Leone's epic lives in the top tier of reference discs alongside Dune and Lawrence of Arabia. The transfer does justice to the widescreen desert photography and the Morricone score hits different in lossless.
A-Tier 20th Century Studios Blu-ray. Leone's epic crime saga, and the 4K announcement had people demanding a 100GB disc for a film this long. No one can decide if they love it or hate it, which is part of the appeal. People have been asking Criterion for a proper release for years. A new restored version was shown at a special screening that only De Niro got to see.

C-Tier Eagle Pictures 4K. Leone's masterpiece western, and the C-Tier is the problem. Bill Hunt warned the 4K would be divisive, and it was. The disc uses a BD-66 with grain reduction, which led to mass cancellations. Paramount announced the 4K in 2023 and then took over a year to release it. People are sticking with their Blu-rays until a better transfer materializes.
