A squadron of Japanese Self-Defense Force soldiers find themselves transported through time to their country's warring states era, when rival samurai clans were battling to become the supreme Shogun.
Lionsgate confirmed this for 2026 after twenty years of Tarantino blocking a disc release, with a "super deluxe" box set and a standard edition coming. The Prince Charles Cinema theatrical run is now in 4K, which reads as a new restoration done for this release. The existing Vol 1 and Vol 2 4K discs are considered good but well short of reference quality, so the expectation is a real upgrade.
