Warner's June 2022 4K is from a new restoration of George Stevens' 1956 Texas epic, native 4K HDR10 in the original 1.66:1 framing. The Edna Ferber adaptation runs over three hours and Warner's bitrate shows it on a single BD-100 disc. The Mexican color and Giffin Reata sky shots get the dynamic range they were graded for.

Kino Lorber's 4K scored a perfect 5.0, which almost never happens. Two commentary tracks and a loaded special features package. Excitement was genuine from western fans who consider this one of the greatest ever made. The transfer should be gorgeous given the Technicolor source material and Stevens' meticulous visual style.
