Warner owns the Donner-era run on 4K and the buying path splits in two. For Superman (1978), the 2025 standalone re-release is the canonical disc, with the original 6-track theatrical audio restored in lossless DTS-HD MA and the Christopher Reeve credit glitch fixed. For II through IV, the 2025 Reissue of the 5-Film Collection has the corrected discs (the Amazon-exclusive 4K Steelbook Set from September 2, 2025 is the same fix in a premium shell). The 2023 box is the one to avoid, though Warner sends free replacement discs on request via WHV@wbd.com.

A-Tier Warner Bros. 4K. The steelbook sold fast in stores and most people had to go through Gruv. The 4K grain structure looks really natural on the flying sequences.

The Donner Cut only exists on the 5-Film Collection, no standalone. The 2025 Reissue fixes the Atmos pitch drift on II and the squished geometry on the Donner Cut's final smile shot. Both were why the 2023 pressing was a pass for transfer nitpickers.

Superman III's 4K disc was the only one in the 2023 box that didn't need a 2025 corrected reissue. The other four all got replacement discs, III shipped clean the first time. Still no standalone, you have to buy the box.

Superman IV is the weakest of the run at B-Tier, but the 2025 Reissue is the one to own because Warner corrected the Atmos mix that had wrong music cues scattered through the original 2023 pressing. No standalone exists.
