3 Benny Safdie films on 4K Blu-ray, ranked S to D by transfer quality. 1 S-Tier pick including Oppenheimer.
dir. Christopher Nolan
S-Tier Universal 4K with a perfect 5.0 score. Oppenheimer sold out in one week, which prompted a Variety article about why retailers were pulling physical media while discs were selling like this. The IMAX scenes that fill the full screen are the reason to own the disc over digital, since the streaming version crops them. Nolan films consistently drive 4K sales more than anything else.
Universal Pictures · 4K + Blu-ray
Nolan's first film at Universal after leaving Warner Bros, shot on 15/70 IMAX and scheduled for theatrical July 17, 2026. The 4K disc listing is already up across retail trackers but Universal has not set a street date. A steelbook variant is the usual play for a release this size.

Steelbook art is getting called lazy but the design is actually Rosalina's storybook from the game, which has people cautiously into it. The Yoshi Egg tin edition feels like a mid-2000s collector gimmick. Best Buy has a 40th Anniversary mini steelbook exclusive tied to a gift card purchase, and collectors are annoyed that Best Buy wants back in after abandoning physical media.
