S-Tier Imprint 4K. Spike Lee's Malcolm X, and the 4K has one of the largest file sizes for any movie on disc. Three different 4K releases exist from Criterion, Icon, and Imprint, with Imprint having the best A/V quality overall including the original stereo mix. Criterion has better extras and shelf presence. Angela Bassett weeping over Denzel at the end still destroys people.

Warner kept the IMAX aspect ratio scenes on the 4K instead of cropping them to a locked 2.39:1 frame. Dune collectors have been waiting for a studio to actually do that. The 100GB disc with Dolby Vision is a real spec sheet for a major release in 2025, though the standalone keepcase drops the Blu-ray and only the steelbook version includes both discs.

The film has two titles. It came out as The Salute of the Jugger in 1989 (Australia, Europe), then as the shorter Blood of Heroes in the US a year later. Umbrella's 2025 4K is Australia-only and uses the original title and the 104-minute international cut, with the 91-minute US recut and a 110-minute workprint on Blu-ray. Collector's Edition has a 100-page book, capped at 3000.
