S-Tier Criterion 4K. Altman's anti-western with Warren Beatty and Julie Christie. The film is famous for looking and sounding terrible, which is intentional. Altman applied a muddy effect to the image and the audio is notoriously hard to hear. The Criterion 4K is actually the first time it's looked properly filmic in all its grimy glory. A popular comfort movie, weirdly enough, despite the murky sound.

Gordon Hessler's 1971 Poe adaptation gets its first 4K through the Hammer Presents line, with Robards and Lom in the lead and a July 20 ship in the UK and Canada. Hessler's original dreamlike cut was famously simplified for the AIP theatrical release, and Hammer hasn't said yet whether the disc carries the director's vision, the studio version, or both. Packaging and audio specs aren't posted yet.

They receive a request of help by an old noble friend of Jean, Guillaume de Saint Lambert, who is about to die by an unknown illness. He lives, obviously, in ancient castle with his wife and the servants. Soon Duprey discover that his friend's wife is a witch (originally burnt in the 18th century) and that Guillaume is under her wicked influence. She practices the art of black magic and by making die slowly all members of the Saint Lambert family she gains eternal beauty. When Duprey breaks the marble casket containing the ashes of the witch she shows her real aspect before dying.
